SIDNEY, Neb. – Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, and BassFan, the world's largest daily news source on professional fishing, have joined forces to create the Cabela's Top Gun Championship, which will crown the first undisputed world champion in professional bass fishing.
Only the Top 25 bass anglers in the world, based on the State Farm-BassFan.com World Rankings, will qualify to fish in the three-day event, scheduled for August 2005. The two 2005 tour Anglers of the Year will also qualify, if they are not already in the Top 25.
For the first time in the history of tournament bass fishing, top professionals from both the Bassmaster and FLW tours will compete against each other on the same water for the right to be named bass fishing's Top Gun.
Cabela's also signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Skeeter BassFan Army Weekend Warrior Championship, which will crown the best weekend tournament angler in North America.

Cabela's new 230,000-square-foot retail showroom in Fort Worth, Texas, will serve as tournament headquarters for the Cabela's Top Gun Championship and the Skeeter BassFan Army Weekend Warrior Championship events.
