Former Bassmaster Elite Series pro Derek Remitz is in stable condition in the intensive care unit of an Alabama hospital after a serious auto accident late Friday night near Lake Guntersville, according to a Facebook post (embedded below) by his sister, Darci Laffin.
The 36-year-old Remitz competed on the Elite Series for nine seasons and won his debut event at Lake Amistad in 2007. He placed 2nd to Aaron Martens two weeks later at the California Delta.
He qualified for three Classics and placed 3rd in the 2011 edition at the Louisiana Delta. He left the Elite Series after the 2015 season to become a full-time guide at Guntersville.
