Bill Stuart, a former owner of Bagley Bait Company and co-author of the book "Florida Lure Makers and Their Lures," died recently at his home in Bartow, Fla. He was 82.
Stuart became president of Bagley in August 1988 and took over ownership of the company from founder Jim Bagley later that year. His tenure lasted until 1994, by which time the company was in dire financial straits, primarily due to soaring production costs.
Stuart, who held a master's degree from the prestigious Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, was also involved in the ranching, mining, citrus and manufacturing industries.
