Mark Menendez was in the right place at the right time on Sunday.
According to a report on Bassmaster.com today, the Elite Series angler helped rescue a family of six, including three children between the ages of 3 and 12, after their boat had capsized at Sam Rayburn Reservoir.
Aboard the boat were a pregnant mother, the father and three children, along with the family’s grandmother. All were wearing personal flotation devices. The group was fishing from a 16-foot jonboat powered by a small outboard motor.
Menendez was fishing nearby and saw the boat capsize. He immediately drove over to the small boat and helped pull the children into his boat, then the adults.
“I am just grateful that I was in the right place at the right time,” he said. “I was OK until getting them back to the bank and then realizing what happened.”
